The MAPS Group of Companies operate in the
field of geographic data acquisition throughout Europe, Africa and the Middle
East. Founded in
1974, today MAPS has production facilities in
Germany, UAE, Lebanon and Portugal with a multinational staff of 200 engineers
and technicians from a wide range of disciplines.
25 years
of mapping experience in 50 countries have turned MAPS into experts in adapting
products and services to meet a worldwide variety of client
requirements.
Airborne Data Acquisition combines aerial photography,
precision scanning, airborne GPS assisted aerial triangulation and ground
control to provide precision controlled stereo models for in-house data capture
or for client usage.
Ground Survey
Ground
Control for photogrammetry, large scale topographical surveys, underground
utility surveys, route profiling, monitoring surveys and bathymetry. With much
of the traditional ground control for photogrammetric mapping replaced by
airborne GPS assisted aerial triangulation. MAPS’ Geodetic Survey Section is now
widely engaged in Geodetic Network Rehabilitation work i.e. accuracy up-grading
and geoid determination, often a requirement to permit efficient usage of GPS
technology.
MAPS’ digital image
processing department is a hi-tech production facility for large quantities
of high quality orthoimages. The backbone of this section is the highly
automated procedures to extract and edit DTMs, as well as image processing and
enhancement procedures; all continuously up-graded to advanced standards. MAPS
developed various DTM production procedures to cope with different terrain type
and accuracy requirements, be it intended for orthophotos, 3-D building
modelling, contour lines or applications where ultra high accuracy is
required.
MAPS’
Spatial Data Integration Service assists the clients, many of them in the
cadastral and municipal field, to integrate their spatial data into GIS or other
data bases and to
channel relevant information to all levels of an organisation with
minimum effort and an emphasis on virtually no training
requirement.
Throughout
its operation, MAPS relies heavily on it Systems Engineering Section to provide
the tools that ensure efficient production of high quality data. The personnel
of this section have gathered over 200 man-months of experience in software
development related to spatial data. Applications include software for
photogrammetric data capture, mapping automation plug-ins for major CADD and GIS
software, GPS integration and Image Management, Processing and Display
technology. The Systems Engineering Section forms the backbone of MAPS GIS
Implementation and Spatial Data Integration
Services.
